Singing Bluegrass Duets, with special guest Molly Tuttle: A follow-up to last summer's class , Jack and Molly will help singers develop their bluegrass voices, with emphasis on duet singing. We'll discuss the elements of the old-school bluegrass vocal sound as we work on a variety of duets. You'll learn methods for improving pitch, tone and phrasing. Students will have a chance to sing a duet in class each week, with critiquing by Jack and Molly. Bring your instrument too.
Tuesdays 7 to 8pm. Nine Weeks, $160
Bluegrass Jam Class (level 3) This class is for the bluegrass player (guitar, banjo, mandolin, bass, fiddle, dobro) who wants more experience playing with other people. The repertoire will consist of standard bluegrass songs and fiddle tunes. Students will be coached on jam etiquette, proper balance, backup and fills. Includes lead and harmony singing. Class prerequisite: student must be able to play chords at a steady, moderate tempo and be able to work up solos without help.
Wednesdays 7:30 to 8:45pm Nine Weeks, $160
Bluegrass Jam Class – Songs of Bill Monroe (level 3) In this new class, we'll work up some songs from Bill's repertoire and try to develop a deeper understanding of his sound. As in Jack's regular Jam Class, we'll play from a set repertoire, but each class will end with a couple of Monroe songs NOT in the class repertoire as we work on playing new songs, getting quick to the chords and melody, as well as improving improvising skills.
