Welcome to my site!

Had a great time at the CBA festival in Grass Valley. Thanks to all who took my old-time fiddle class and all those who came and heard The Tuttles with AJ Lee!

My summer classes will be starting up on June 22nd, 23rd and 24th. Summer sessions are usually easier to get into than other times of year. I'll be offering a new duet singing class, with my daughter Molly helping out that should be a fun class, and an all-new Songs of Bill Monroe jam class. Details here.

My 17 year-old daughter Molly has her own web site here. Want to host a house concert? Molly and I will play some of her original material as well as play some old-time and bluegrass. If you're out of state, set up a series of concerts for us and we'll fly in.

What's On My Site

The site is mainly meant to be a resource for my current students in the South San Francisco Bay Area. However, anyone who is learning to play should find something of interest.

Most of the navigation buttons lead to obvious content. Some of things you will find on my website include:

  • Schedule a Lesson lets you schedule a one-time lesson, or reschedule a missed lesson.
  • About Lessons has all the basic information about taking lessons from me including when, where, how much and how to schedule a lesson.
  • Helpful Tips is an entry point for all help for each instrument and a link to the top ten things that you can do to improve your playing. The top ten includes tips for more effective practice.
  • Explore some of the links down the left side to learn more about bluegrass .
