I teach at Gryphon. They are good guys and will treat you right.

Welcome to my site!

All of my classes filled for this quarter, with the exception of my Beginning Bluegrass Banjo Class, so I've decided to give it another shot, beginning on May 21st. And Gryphon will provide those who need it a free take-home rental banjo for the nine weeks of the class! Details here.

I'll be teaching, as always, at the California Bluegrasss Association's Music Camp in June. This time I'm teaching a Bluegrass Band Class. My daughter Molly will be teaching a guitar class.

Speaking of Molly, she has just moved to Nashville as she launches her solo music career. But fear not, she'll still be doing shows with The Tuttles with AJ Lee.

What's On My Site

The site is mainly meant to be a resource for my current students in the South San Francisco Bay Area. However, anyone who is learning to play should find something of interest.

Most of the navigation buttons lead to obvious content. Some of things you will find on my website include:

  • Schedule a Lesson lets you schedule a one-time lesson, or reschedule a missed lesson.
  • About Lessons has all the basic information about taking lessons from me including when, where, how much and how to schedule a lesson.
  • Helpful Tips is an entry point for all help for each instrument and a link to the top ten things that you can do to improve your playing. The top ten includes tips for more effective practice.
  • Explore some of the links down the left side to learn more about bluegrass .
